Night. Rain. 1080p/60fps. These were the challenges of Forza Motorsport 6.
Along with new locations and cars came weather and night. Conceiving the look and workflow for night was a daunting task. The Lighting team had to be particularly nimble to produce industry-leading night visuals as we wrestled with perf. Collaborating closely with the talented Turn 10 Engine devs, we succeeded in creating highly-praised, uniquely-Forza night experiences: white-knuckled claustrophobic driving and realistic stadium driving.
I drove the visual development of in-game night lighting for all assets. I also created the initial blueprint and directed the continual evolution of the night lighting pipeline throughout production, adapting it as perf and content priorities shifted.
